Peer Reviewer Process
Every manuscript submitted to SPECTRA COMMUNITY SERVICES: Journal of Community Services and Social Development undergoes a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, relevance, and academic integrity of published articles.
1. Initial Evaluation (Desk Review)
Upon submission, each manuscript is initially screened by the Editorial Team to assess its alignment with the journal's focus and scope, compliance with the Author Guidelines, manuscript completeness, and overall academic quality. A preliminary plagiarism or similarity check may also be conducted at this stage.
Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's basic requirements or are considered unsuitable for the journal's scope may be rejected at this stage without being sent for external peer review (desk rejection).
2. Peer Review (Double-Blind Review)
Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial evaluation are assigned to at least two independent expert reviewers with relevant expertise.
SPECTRA COMMUNITY SERVICES applies a Double-Blind Peer Review system. Under this system, the identities of the authors are concealed from the reviewers, and the identities of the reviewers are likewise concealed from the authors throughout the review process.
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on their relevance, originality, methodological quality, clarity, validity of results, contribution to community development, and overall academic quality.
3. Editorial Decision
The Editor makes the final decision based on the reviewers' recommendations and the editorial assessment. Possible decisions include:
- Accept Submission — The manuscript is accepted for publication without further revision.
- Revisions Required — The manuscript requires minor or major revisions before a final publication decision can be made.
- Decline Submission — The manuscript is rejected because it does not meet the journal's academic, methodological, ethical, or scope requirements.
Authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts more than once when necessary. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation.
4. Estimated Review Time
The estimated time from manuscript submission to the first editorial decision is approximately 4–8 weeks, depending on the availability of reviewers, the complexity of the manuscript, and the revision process.
The stated timeframe is an estimate and may vary depending on the circumstances of each submission.
